Amtech Rapid Prototyping have been involved in many and varied packaging launch projects - from distinctive beer pumps to creating realistically filled yogurt pots.
Our client was attending a trade show and needed to demonstrate a new range of products. The approached Amtech Rapid Prototyping and asked us for our advice.Following discussions, we created 6 high-quality vacuum-cast beer pumps, each an exact replica of a full-size, bar-mounted beer pump with full marketing graphics - each model comprising an assembly of 10 individual components - to launch the marketing campaign for their new beer style.
Meanwhile we were approached by a major UK packaging company to produce clear prototype yogurt pots, these were to be filled with silicone which will look and feel like the real yogurt. It took us just 4 days to produce and finish high-resolution SLA masters, make the silicone tools, and cast the first sets and within a week we had 2 different styles of filling (white and peach) for the client to assess.Once the pots were approved further samples were made with yet more ingredients including fake strawberries. Around 120 were produced at the correct filled weight giving a safe to handle pot that can’t accidentally be consumed during the trial. The models soon had printed labels and foil lids making them look and feel very much like the final product.
With the increase in workload being undertaken at Amtech, two new members of staff have joined the team and we have also increased the factory space by buying the unit next door.Amtech Rapid Prototyping are a fully equipped bureau with a paint spraying facility; 3D printing capabilities, model making, CNC machining and RIM casting.
