Camlocks give fast fix without screws

The traditional approach of mounting large items in rectangular holes in panels plus nut and bolt fastenings in four additional screw holes is not an approach favoured in this day and age. Apart from other considerations, removing and replacing nuts and bolts when performing a rapid panel change often results in nuts dropped into wiring looms and elsewhere, which have to then be located and retrieved, often to be dropped again. Solution: Rockwell Automation PanelView Plus 400 and 600 human machine interfaces are held in position by adjustable camlock mounting levers. The levers have spigots which engage in diagonal slotted tracks with curved cutouts along the tops and bottoms of the units. With the lever ends perpendicular to the panel, the levers may be ratcheted along the tracks until they touch the back of the panel. A quick press forward on the ends of the levers with the thumbs and the interface units are then securely locked in place. Applications: Patents have been applied for since the mounting technique is applicable to any panel mounted unit. Removable terminal blocks further ease the changing or upgrading of module units. The 4-inch PanelView Plus 400 has an FSTN high contrast LCD screen to displays grey scale graphics at 320x240 QVGA resolution. The 6-inch PanelView Plus 600 offers a choice of grey scale or colour TFT screens. Both units are available with integral keypads offering numeric entry, screen navigation and function keys while the 600 unit also offers the options of touch screen control or a combination of touch screen with keypad.
