Non contact clutches
Misumi Europa has expanded the rollers and conveyor components product group to include magnetic clutches in two designs.
The components are said to enable non-contact, low wear, magnetic power transmission to transport devices, for applications such as clean rooms.
According to Misumi, the TM magnetic drives provide non-contact power transmission via a magnetic field. Because of this magnetic drive, the compo-nents do not come into contact and reduce any associated wear and contami-nation.
The components are designed for use within the scope of application on the basis of the permanent magnetic specification. Misumi says that this makes it possible to construct power limited conveyor devices that can be operated continuously without causing damage to the conveyer device or the conveyed goods.
There are two designs available: The 90° variant transfers the power via two TM magnetic drives arranged at right angles to each other, while in the parallel variant, the two drives are located parallel to each other and function in opposing directions.
The number of magnetic clutches required for the application is calculated from the size and scale of the torque to be transferred. This depends on the work pieces. The number of components, the size of the clutch and the rele-vant torque are therefore interdependent. Subsequently, users are able to select the appropriate component from the table in the catalogue.
