The company transformed the above water signal into a 4G under water signal, using a conductor. Through this conductor the signal was transmitted to the waterproof VR-glasses creating a real-time diving experience.
Underwater VR googles offer the potential to train technical divers in the oil and gas industry, as well as offering assistance during technical dives via a similar augmented reality (AR) mask.
Vodafone is keen to inspire experiences using a number of technologies including waterproof VR-glasses, created by US company BallastVR, to allow users the thrill of driving with Great White Sharks without the danger, or protective cages.
“This unique experience showcases how Vodafone envisions the future of technology, using the Vodafone network to bring the world closer to their dreams and new experiences,” says Laura van Gestel, manager commercial communications at Vodafone. “By actually inviting our clients to see this technique, they get to fully experience the power of innovation.”
