Fast curing epoxy compound features excellent electrical insulation at high temperatures
Master Bond EP17HT is a one component epoxy system for bonding, sealing, coating and casting that features exemplary temperature and chemical resistance. It also offers notable retention of properties at high temperatures up to 650°F.
Featuring excellent physical properties, Master Bond EP17HT is ideally suited for a variety of applications in the aerospace, oil and chemical processing and specialty OEM industries. This one part system has exceptional temperature resistance with a glass transition temperature of +225°C and a service temperature range of -80°F to +650°F.
As a no mix compound, it is very easy to handle and cures quickly at 300°F with even faster cures attainable at higher temperatures. Since EP17HT is 100% reactive and contains no solvents or diluents, shrinkage upon cure is minimal. This product is also distinctive in that it has very low exotherm upon curing and can be used in castings and encapsulations well beyond ½ inch in thickness.
It bonds well to similar and dissimilar substrates such as metals, ceramics, plastics and composites. EP17HT has an impressive strength profile with a tensile strength of 10,000 psi, tensile lap shear strength of 3,200 psi and compressive strength exceeding 20,000 psi at room temperature. It has a striking resistance to many chemicals such as acids, bases, salts, fuels, oils and many solvents. EP17HT has a volume resistivity over 1015 ohm-cm and retains its superb electrical insulation properties, even at higher temperatures.
EP17HT is tan in color and is available in a variety of standard packaging options ranging from ½ pints to 5 gallons. This system requires refrigeration and has a shelf life of 3-6 months. A paste version called EP17HTND-2 in black is also available.
