Leuze electronic launches new range of safety controllers
The new MSI100 and MSI200 safety controllers from Leuze electronic have been designed to offer quick, easy and affordable control for light curtains, safety interlocks and E-STOP buttons, without the need for expensive licenses or a safety PLC. Leuze claims the devices also eliminate the need to commit to just one manufacturer's complex safety system.
The MSI100 programmable module has 20 safe inputs (SIL 3, PLe) and can monitor up to four Category 4 outputs, independent of one another. In addition, the MSI200 is said to be expandable to up to 140 safety modules or 44 outputs again to performance level PLe, SIL3, with Cat4 outputs. The controllers also offer two clock outputs and have LED indicators on all inputs and outputs to help in commissioning.
Both modules incorporate the 'drag and drop' MSIsafesoft software, which uses PLCopen certified function blocks and is available free of charge. According to the company, the software is easy to use and has an automatic logic test and built in emulator to allow the programme to be simulated on a pc.
