As analogue landlines are increasingly replaced by IP communication, many companies are faced with the question of whether they must now replace all of their existing networked serial devices. MoRoS, IMON and MLR industrial routers and fault transmitters from INSYS icom offer an easy and economic solution in this situation. These state-of-the-art data communication devices are still capable of communicating via AT commands.
This option ensures that legacy modems can simply be replaced without any other changes – connected serial devices will remain fully functional as before. The routers and transmitters feature a "modem emulator" function for AT command communication. Device reactions to incoming AT commands can be edited as required in an AT response list.
Another issue with older serial devices is that they are often not equipped to handle connections to IP addresses instead of phone numbers. The new firmware v. 2.12.6, which is now available for all INSYS icom routers and fault transmitters, completely resolves this problem.
The firmware expands the AT response list options by adding entries that enable a translation of dial-up numbers into IP and port configurations. All connected serial devices can thus establish connections to IP addresses. Featuring a standard integrated Linux sandbox, this INSYS range also enables users to implement additional application-specific functions at any time. Tasks such as data logging or intermediate storage and processing of data without additional devices can therefore be performed without any additional equipment.
